Gympie 4570 45 mins drive NORTH of the
Sunshine Coast
Gympie is an historic gold mining town, which after a long period of little change,
is now catching up, rapidly transforming itself into a pleasant, contemporary
semi-rural, yet cosmopolitan township. Gympie is famous for the Toyota National
Country Music Muster held annually in August at Amamoor & the Gold Rush
Festival in October. There’s a Woodwork & Timber Museum, parks & gardens
& plenty of historic architecture to admire in the lovely old buildings
throughout the town. The cafe culture has arrived & Gympie now has a variety of
cafes & restaurants to choose from. Gympie accommodation mainly consists of

Rainbow Beach & Tin Can Bay are a short drive away where you can feed dolphins

Alexandra Headland
4572 Alexandra Headland, known by the locals as 'Alex', has

Popular with families, couples & anyone who loves a surf, Coolum Beach is a
favourite holiday spot & the ultimate surfing destination on the Sunshine
Coast. Coolum accommodation ranges from the Hyatt Coolum with its fabulous golf
course, beachfront apartments to units, villas, motels & caravan parks. Coolum
has great shopping & dining choices, a great surf club & hotel &
beachfront twilight markets in the summer months.

suit. Peregian Beach is about 10 minutes’ drive from Hastings Street. Buses run

Kenilworth is
a small town, with a population of less than 300, in the beautiful upper Mary
Valley Country, behind the Blackall Ranges, only about 1.5 hrs drive north of
Brisbane. The Mary River flows North from Maleny, through Conondale, Kenilworth,
Gympie, Tiaro, Maryborough, & then into the sea opposite Fraser
Island.
The town retains its 1920's atmosphere & has a surprising amount of interest
with a very engaging historical museum, a good range of shops, stunning art gallery
plus a cheese, yoghurt & ice-cream factory.
The Kenilworth State Forest provides excellent opportunities for horse riding,
